Current Activities
Priority A: Provide training and guidelines for equitable and inclusive practices in field, greenhouse, and lab research. This includes assuring safety and accessibility, both in our on-campus facilities, but also in facilities and communities that are off-campus, which may provide unique challenges in equity and inclusion. Provide resources to PIs and labs to help them foster an inclusive and equitable research group.
Priority B: Provide training and guidelines for expanding our appreciation for, exploration of, and involvement in diverse research approaches and questions. Diverse approaches to research lead to novel contributions to science, and are effective in recruiting and supporting diverse scholars. This working group will provide resources and training to departmental members who are interested in exploring diverse research approaches, including education on funding sources and publishing venues. It will also help provide training for other departmental members in evaluating these different research approaches in qualifying exams, thesis reviews, and merits and promotions.
